Seating pressure = max(customers waiting − open usable seats, 0)

Kitchen pressure = max(orders waiting − active stoves, 0)

The larger score determines the recommendation. A positive tie means reassign and observe; a zero/zero result means no active pressure.

Worked example

Seven customers, three seats

If 7 customers wait while 3 seats are open, seating pressure is 4. If 2 orders wait while 2 stoves are active, kitchen pressure is 0. The visible bottleneck is seating.

The tool does not estimate cook speed, customer patience, profit per minute, payback time, star gain, or a guaranteed outcome. Those values are not stable enough to claim. Use the result as a shift check, then compare it with the current shop and your restaurant layout.

No. It is a transparent operational heuristic based only on the counts you enter from the current shift.

Does the calculator know current shop prices?

No. Price and cash fields are optional player-entered values, so the site never invents a current cost.

What should I do when both scores tie?

Clear or reassign work at both stations, observe which queue returns first, and delay the purchase until the stronger bottleneck is visible.
